Hello, my name is Jihan Kim. I am a physicist transitioning into the AI research field.
I love to learn new things and challenge myself to solve hard problems.
I graduated from Oregon State University with a PhD in physics in December 2019.
Throughout my graduate program, I studied how breast cancer cells and the surrounding extracellular matrix (ECM) interact bidirectionally. I examined two components of this bidirectional relationship: 1) How cancer cells remodel ECM to modify physical properties and geometrical architectures, and 2) How remodeled ECM regulates cancer behavior such as cancer cell migration.
During my last year in graduate school, I became fascinated with machine learning. I decided to learn and explore further about the AI research field. In this blog, I’d like to share my journey to become an AI research scientist.
